The Metropolitan Opera Endowment
The Metropolitan Opera is very grateful to our loyal friends throughout the country who make special gifts in support of the Met’s endowment each season.
Endowment gifts of $100,000 or more are recognized on a plaque located on the Grand Tier in the Opera House.
Gifts to the Met’s endowment may be unrestricted or one may designate one’s gift in support of a special project or program, including such things as:
- New Productions
- Revivals
- Artistic leadership positions, including the Music Director, Principal Conductor, Chorus Director, and Principal chairs in the Met Orchestra.
- Audience development programs, including the live radio broadcasts, Live-in-HD transmissions, PBS telecasts, Rush Tickets, and education programs such as Met Opera Students and The Met: HD Live in Schools
- Capital project funds to renovate and maintain the opera house
Named endowment funds may honor or memorialize family members or others for whom the Metropolitan Opera held special meaning. There are also spaces within the Opera House that may be named in honor of loved ones. We will be pleased to discuss this with you privately if you are considering this kind of naming opportunity.
