Liù in Turandot

Armenian soprano Juliana Grigoryan is in her first year in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, during which she will make her Met debut as Liù in Turandot and covered Musetta in La Bohème. Later in the 2023–24 season, she will sing Mimì in La Bohème at the Arena di Verona, Liù at the Terme di Caracalla with the Teatro dell’ Opera di Roma and Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and will appear as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem at Teatro alla Scala. On the concert stage, she has performed extensively throughout Europe, appearing in the Victoria de los Ángeles Centenary Gala Concert at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, a concert alongside tenor Piotr Beczała with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and the 2023 International Opera Awards Concert at the Polish National Opera. She has appeared as the soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti in Ravenna, Rimini, and Bologna, with an upcoming performance with the Philadelphia Orchestra scheduled for October. Recent operatic engagements include Liù at Dutch National Opera and Armenian National Opera, a Wood Nymph in Rusalka at La Scala, Mimì at the Ravenna Festival, and Zemfira in Rachmaninoff's Aleko at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In 2022, she was named the grand prize winner of the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, where she also received the Katowice City of Gardens-Krystyna Bochenek Cultural Institution Prize and Marcella Sembrich-Kochańska Prize. Later that year, she was named the winner of the Operalia World Opera Competition and received the audience choice award and is a recent recipient of the Hildegard Behrens Foundation Award. She holds degrees from Yerevan State Conservatory and is an alumna of their Young Artist Opera Program.
