Madama Butterfly

Rising tenor Bryan Hymel, in his first Italian role at the Met, sings Pinkerton, opposite Amanda Echalaz as Cio-Cio-San, in her company debut. Puccini’s moving and tragic tale of a young Japanese geisha’s marriage to a U.S. Navy officer also stars Scott Hendricks as Sharpless, the American consul, and Elizabeth DeShong as Suzuki, Cio-Cio-San’s maid and confidante. Philippe Auguin conducts.
