Stravinsky
The Rake's Progress
At the tail end of the 2021–22 season, the Met mounted a rare revival of Stravinsky’s neoclassical satire, The Rake’s Progress, with Maestro Susanna Mälkki leading a sterling ensemble cast. In this Saturday Matinee Radio Broadcast, tenor Ben Bliss, a graduate of the Met’s prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, is the profligate Tom Rakewell, who is led astray by the nefarious Nick Shadow, sung by bass-baritone Christian Van Horn. Alongside them, soprano Golda Schultz is Anne Trulove, who tries to save Tom’s wayward soul, with mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis as the bearded beauty Baba the Turk and bass James Creswell as Anne’s father, Trulove.
