Soprano Diana Damrau stars in this Bellini vehicle for bel canto pyrotechnics, the story of a woman driven mad by love for her exiled pirate. Tenor Javier Camarena joins her for the May 22 HD transmission, showing off his spectacular high notes as the buccaneer. Maurizio Benini conducts the striking production, last seen at the Met in 2003. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to more than 2,200 theaters in more than 70 countries worldwide.
