Email Service Provider Ransomware Incident

The Metropolitan Opera has learned, like a number of other organizations, that our third-party email service provider, WordFly, has suffered a ransomware incident which may have impacted some of our customers’ data. 

This may have included names and email addresses, which were obtained by the cyber attacker as part of the incident that WordFly suffered.  We know that the incident did not include your payment information or passwords, as this information is not stored on the WordFly platform. It is possible that this incident might lead to you receiving unwanted or fraudulent email messages. 

Safeguarding and maintaining the confidentiality of our customers’ data remains The Metropolitan Opera’s priority. If you receive an email that purports to be from The Metropolitan Opera but that is suspicious, please feel free to report it to us at and we will take appropriate action.
