Repertoire Exploration
Schools participating in Access Opera are able to take advantage of our Repertoire Exploration Program (REP). For interested schools, the Met provides in-school programming that introduces students to the art form of opera by engaging the text, music, and historical context of the final dress rehearsal they will be attending. Led by a teaching artist, these interactive sessions take place in the classroom and focus on specific curricular and student outcomes.
Two-Session Residencies
This option includes:
- Two teaching artist sessions in the classroom
- One session focuses on plot and characters, the other on music and design
- Both sessions take place prior to the final dress rehearsal attendance
Fee: $1,000
Five-Session Residences
This option includes:
- Five teaching artist sessions in the classroom
- Two or three sessions prior to the opera, focusing on preparation for the final dress rehearsal
- Two or three sessions following the performance, including a student project based on the opera
Fee: $2,000
One-Time Workshops

These interactive workshops will be led by Met teaching artists or staff, and are fully customizable for the age level and opera(s) to be attended. Workshops may focus on subjects such as production design, composition, opera history, and voice types. Workshop space at the Met varies based on availability.
Appropriate for: Grades 3 through college
Fee: $500-1,500 per workshop
Costs do not include final dress rehearsal tickets. Subsidies may be available for qualifying schools.
