Yonghoon Lee will sing Radamès in tomorrow’s October 18 performance of Verdi’s Aida, replacing Aleksandrs Antonenko, who is ill.

 

South Korean tenor Yonghoon Lee made his Met role debut on Monday stepping in as Radamès, and he will return to sing the role later this season at the Met. He has previously sung the role at Opera Australia and Washington National Opera. He made his Met debut in the title role of Verdi’s Don Carlo in 2010, and previous roles at the Met include Manrico in Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco, and Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. Other performances this season include Calàf in Puccini’s Turandot at Opera Australia, Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana at Wiener Staatsoper, Luigi in Puccini’s Il Tabarro at Bayerische Staatsoper, and Don Alvaro in La Forza del Destino at Opernhaus Zürich. Later this season at the Met, he will reprise Don José in Carmen.

 

The cast for Aida includes Tamara Wilson as Aida, Anita Rachvelishvili as Amneris, Quinn Kelsey as Amonasro, Dmitry Belosselskiy as Ramfis, and Ryan Speedo Green as The King. Nicola Luisotti conducts.

 

Performances of Aida began on September 26, 2018 and run through March 7, 2019.
