Najmiddin Mavlyanov will sing the role of Cavaradossi in the May 8 and 12 performances of Puccini’s Tosca.

Mavlyanov makes his Met debut as Cavaradossi, a role he has previously sung at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and Royal Opera, Covent Garden. His recent performances include the title role of Verdi’s Don Carlo at Bolshoi Opera, Maurizio in Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur at the Mariinsky Theatre, Radamès in Verdi’s Aida at Hong Kong Opera, and Manrico in Verdi’s Il Trovatore at Royal Opera, Covent Garden. Next season, he will be seen as Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth at Stanislavsky Opera and Don José in Bizet’s Carmen at Israeli Opera. The tenor was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
