
Hannah Jones is a mezzo-soprano from Houston, Texas in her second year in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. This season at the Met, she will appear as Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Annina in La Traviata. During the 2024–25 season, she made her Met debut as one of the voices of the Unborn Children in Die Frau ohne Schatten, covered the role of Iras in the company premiere of John Adams’s Antony and Cleopatra, and performed in the Met's Summer Parks Recital Series as part of the City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage Festival. Previous operatic engagements include Jennie Jackson in the world premiere of Tazewell Thompson’s Jubilee at Seattle Opera, covering Monisha in Joplin’s Treemonisha and Mrs. McLean in Floyd’s Susannah with Opera Theater of Saint Louis, and Hermia in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Maman/La Libellule in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed on ABC’s Good Morning America with The Denyce Graves Foundation’s Shared Voices program, and in concert performances with Opera for Peace in Rome, Italy. In 2024, she was named Winner of the DC-Maryland-Virginia District and recipient of the Encouragement Award from the Eastern Region of the Met’s Laffont Competition. Later that year, she won second place in the Manhattan School of Music’s Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition and received the Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation. She is an alumna of the Gerdine Young Artist Program at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Seagle Festival Emerging Artist Program, and was a member of the inaugural cohort of The Denyce Graves Foundation’s Shared Voices program. She holds degrees in voice from Lawrence University and the Manhattan School of Music.
