Ben Reisinger is a tenor from Rochester, New York currently in his second year in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. During the 2025-26 Met season, he will make his company debut as the First Armed Man in the holiday presentation of The Magic Flute, then sing the role of the Sailor in Tristan und Isolde and Gastone in La Traviata. Additionally, this season he will cover the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto with San Francisco Opera and make his role debut as Alfredo in La Traviata with Opera Colorado. Last season at the Met, he covered roles in Fidelio and the company premiere of Jeanine Tesori’s Grounded. Previously performing as a baritone and as a Resident Artist with Detroit Opera, he sang the roles of the Maestro in Ainadamar and Wagner in Faust and covered various roles including Terry in Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Elviro in Xerxes, and Valentin in Faust. Additional operatic engagements include Guglielmo in a concert version of Così fan tutte and the title role in a concert version of Ullman’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis both with Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Blansac in Rossini’s La Scala di Seta and Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus with Michigan State Opera Theatre. In addition to his operatic and concert experience, he has achieved success in some of the top national and international vocal competitions. Recent awards include second prize in the 2025 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition, the Athena Music Foundation Prize from the 2024 Premiere Opera Foundation Competition, the Stephen Phebus Award from the 2024 Opera Index Vocal Competition, and the Bonnie Bell Encouragement Award in the 2023 James Toland Vocal Arts Competition. In 2020 and 2021, he was the winner of the Michigan District and recipient of the Great Lakes Region Encouragement Award in the Met’s Laffont Competition. He is an alumnus of the Martina Arroyo Foundation's Prelude to Performance program and Detroit Opera’s Resident Artist Program. He holds degrees in voice from Nazareth University and Michigan State University.
