Actors Auditions

The Metropolitan Opera will be auditioning ACTORS for non-singing/non-speaking roles for the 2022-2023 season returning production of AIDA.

Looking for male-presenting actors age 18-45 years old with strong, athletic physique. Must have presence while marching in a military victory procession. Soldiers are returning from war and marching in a triumphal procession. Prisoners are presented to the king and ask for their freedom. These roles are non-speaking/non-singing. It is not necessary to prepare anything for this audition. Auditioners will be asked to march in time to music. The majority of these roles will require actors to appear shirtless onstage for dress rehearsals and performances. Actors will not be asked to be shirtless during the audition or rehearsals not in costume.

In order to fulfill this engagement, actors would need to be available for rehearsals on Saturday November 12th between the hours of 11:00am-6:00pm, Friday November 18th from 7:30pm-11:00pm, Monday November 28th from 10:00am-3:00pm, Final Dress rehearsal on Tuesday November 29th from 10:00am-2:30pm; and for performances scheduled for:

In 2022 December 2nd, 6th, 10th, 13th, 17th, 21st, 27th, in 2023 January 3rd, 7th matinee, April 27th, 30th matinee, May 6th, 10th, 13th matinee, and 18th.

These are in-person auditions only. Those wishing to attend the auditions should submit their headshot as .jpeg, resume as PDF, email address, and phone number to Actors@metopera.org no later than November 2nd. Invitations to the audition will be sent no later than November 8th. We are not currently accepting fully digital auditions.

Departmental rates are no less than $15.00 per rehearsal hour and no less than $30.00 per performance. Additional performance fees may be paid as staged. Call time for performances will be 30 minutes before the first appearance.
