La Donna del Lago

Joyce DiDonato stars as Elena, the “Lady of the Lake,” who is pursued by three men—the King of Scotland (Lawrence Brownlee), in disguise as a commoner; Rodrigo Di Dhu (John Osborne), a highland chieftain whom Elena is supposed to marry; and Malcolm (Daniela Barcellona, in a trouser role) another chieftain and Elena’s true love. Oren Gradus co-stars as Elena’s father, Duglas. Based on Sir Walter Scott’s epic poem, Rossini’s masterful bel canto drama of love and politics is conducted by Michele Mariotti.
