Business Systems Administrator

Position Summary

This position provides support for the planning, development and maintenance for technologies affecting the Met’s business systems particularly related to its Finance, Payroll, and Human Resources Departments, in accordance with Met policies, internal controls, collective bargaining agreements and other regulatory and legal requirements.  This position serves as a System Administrator for several Met applications including, but not limited to, Lawson, HR/Payroll SharePoint, and Time Accrual.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Finance, Payroll, and Human Resources on the flow of all employee and independent contractor paperwork and data entry; provide quality control review and ensured needed corrections are made; provide support to HR with data entry processing.
  • Maintain all system dependencies and workflow between HR and Payroll department, so as not to delay weekly payroll process.
  • Set-up and maintain HR system structures (Benefit Plans, Positions, Job Codes, Employee Groups, etc.)
  • Maintain HR/Payroll SharePoint application
    • Work with Information Systems to troubleshoot issues and to implement enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain reports, including but not limited to the following:
    • Headcount (Full Time, Part Time, Full Time Equivalency, Disability, etc.)
    • Union contributions (Dues, Pension, Annuity, Welfare)
    • Benefits (Monthly Billing, Interfacing with third party providers)
    • Equal Employment Opportunity Reporting
    • Affordable Care Act Reporting
  • Assist with maintenance of Time Accrual application
    • Run cyclical accrual jobs to credit employees with vacation, sick and personal time.
    • Run periodic reports to share accrual and usage information with department heads.
    • Enter manual transactions into the system as required.
  • Maintain OSHA reporting database.
  • Document and maintain all policies and procedures relating to HR systems.
  • Support Finance in monthly downloads and uploads of American Express transaction activity
  • Support the Business Systems Manager in audits of union plans
  • Provide key backup for Finance /HR administrative functions including but not limited to banking, bank tapes, 403b elections, parking and transit elections
  • Participate in the maintenance of Lawson systems including monthly and year-end closes, and general ledger account and activity management
  • Participate in calendar and fiscal year-end data management processes
  • Participate in yearend tax reporting processes for 1099, W2, 1095
  • Manage running and sign-off of test scripts during application upgrades.
  • Coordinate with Information Systems to ensure that the system services are running efficiently.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to the user base.
  • Troubleshoot application issues as they arise.
  • Assist with other tasks, as requested.

 Qualifications & Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Bachelor of Arts and/or Information Technology) 
  • 2-3 years minimum prior technical experience in the following:
    • Access Database Programming (advanced query writing, advanced report writing, form creating, and macro building)
    • Advanced Excel Functionality (formula building i.e. VLOOKUP, creation of PivotTables)
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting a plus
  • Experience working for a multi-union, non-profit employer preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • The Metropolitan Opera is a performance venue that requires employees working in the building to be fully vaccinated. Due to the nature of this role, you must be fully vaccinated at the time your employment is scheduled to start.
