Marketing Internship - Fall 2019

Position Summary

The ideal candidate is ambitious, has an interest opera and non-profit or entertainment marketing/communications. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in Marketing, Editorial, or Communications to learn about how the Met runs on a day-to-day basis. This is a part-time, unpaid internship and the intern must receive school credit for the experience.

This internship will allow you to:

  • Obtain a working knowledge of marketing/arts administration so that you are able to apply for an entry level job in the field feeling confident and qualified from their internship experience
  • Understand professional office culture/working as a staff member
  • Gain an appreciation for opera/the non-profits arts

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with social media analysis and tracking
  • Assisting with various special events and performance activities when needed (ex. Fridays under 40)
  • Executing research projects as needed for the department
  • Assisting with general marketing support within the department
  • Administrative work like filing invoices and tear sheets, updating sales reports, and refilling materials in the front of house
  • Writing copy and proofreading
  • Updating various sales reports
  • Attending weekly meetings
  • Other general duties when required

Qualifications & Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to work Monday-Friday from 11am-5pm is preferred
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Excellent project management skills; able to prioritize multiple projects
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and good written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, high-level knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to work occasional after hour events
