Casting Update News

Kirsten Chambers will make her Met debut singing the title role in this evening’s performance of Strauss’s Salome, replacing Patricia Racette, who is ill.

Soprano Kirsten Chambers has previously sung the title character in Salome at Opera Hong Kong. Her recent performances include the Foreign Princess in Dvořák’s Rusalka at Lyric Opera of Kansas, Leonore in Beethoven’s Fidelio at New Amsterdam Opera, Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at the Bronx Opera, and Elsa in Wagner’s Lohengrin at Opéra de Rennes, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and Savonlinna Opera Festival.

Tonight’s performance of Salome is conducted by Johannes Debus and also stars Nancy Fabiola Herrera as Herodias, Gerhard Siegel as Herod, Kang Wang as Narraboth, and Željko Lučić as Jochanaan.
