Casting Update News

American tenor Brenton Ryan will make his Met debut as Pedrillo in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail this spring. Ryan will sing all five performances of the opera, which opens on April 22 and continues on April 27, 30, May 3, and May 7 matinee.

 Ryan’s other engagements this season include Beppe in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci and Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, both with LA Opera; and the Fool in Berg’s Wozzeck at Lyric Opera of Chicago. He is a member of the young artist program at LA Opera, where his other roles have included Kryos and Peasant Man in Patrick Morganelli’s Hercules vs. Vampires, Léon in John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles, Sailor/Spirit in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata.

Die Entführung aus dem Serail will be conducted by Met Music Director James Levine and also star Albina Shagimuratova as Konstanze, Kathleen Kim as Blondchen, Paul Appleby and Ben Bliss as Belmonte, and Hans-Peter König as Osmin.
