L'Italiana in Algeri
Jennifer Larmore is the cheeky, beautiful Isabella, the Italian woman shipwrecked on the African coast who catches the eye of Mustafà, the amorous Bey of Algiers (the great Samuel Ramey). Isabella is searching for her lost lover, Lindoro (Matthew Polenzani), who, it turns out, has become a slave of Mustafà’s. Also involved in the comic confusions are the Bey’s unloved wife, Elvira (Joyce Guyer), the elderly Italian Taddeo (Alessandro Corbelli), and Mustafà’s confidant, the pirate Haly (Mariusz Kwiecien). Bruno Campanella conducts.
