Mozart
The Magic Flute
No holiday season at the Met would be complete without the company’s abridged, English-language version of The Magic Flute, which retook the stage with a dynamic young cast during the 2022–23 season. In this performance, Maestro Duncan Ward conducts Mozart’s musical fable, which stars tenor Ben Bliss as the valiant prince Tamino, on a quest to rescue Prince Pamina, sung by soprano Joélle Harvey. Baritone Joshua Hopkins is his lovable sidekick, the bird catcher Papageno, with soprano Aleksandra Olczyk as the hair-raising Queen of the Night and bass Soloman Howard as the benevolent Sarastro.
