Mozart
The Magic Flute
Continuing a popular holiday tradition, the Met’s abridged, English-language adaptation of The Magic Flute retook the stage during the 2021–22 season. In this radio broadcast, Jane Glover, one of today’s leading Mozart interpreters, conducts the composer’s fantastical fairy-tale opera, leading a truly delightful ensemble cast. Tenor Matthew Polenzani, a veteran of more than 400 Met performances, stars as the valiant Tamino, on a quest to rescue the noble princess Pamina, sung by radiant soprano Hera Hyesang Park. The performance also features tenor Rolando Villazón in his company role debut as the lovable bird catcher Papageno, soprano Kathryn Lewek as the sinister Queen of the Night, and bass Morris Robinson as the benevolent sage Sarastro.
