Open only to United States citizens and legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of

Columbia at least 18 years of age who submit a paid Subscription Order (in the singular “Subscription

Order” and in the plural “Subscription Orders”) or enter without subscribing in accordance with the

instructions set forth below to The Metropolitan Opera from within the 50 United States or the District

of Columbia no later than 11:59 PM EDT on March 12, 2014. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Directors, officers, employees and agents of The Metropolitan Opera and their families and household

members are not eligible. Orders and alternate means of Entry sent by mail must be postmarked no

later than 11:59 PM EDT on March 12, 2014. NO EXCEPTIONS. The winner will be chosen in a random

drawing to be held not later than March 26, 2014. The Metropolitan Opera’s determination of eligibility is final. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible paid subscription orders and entries by the

alternate means described below that are received. There is one prize. Those submitting a Subscription

Order will receive a refund of the cost of the winner’s Subscription Order, not to exceed $2,500. The

approximate retail value of the refund is between $135 and $2,500 based on the winner’s Subscription

Order. If the winner’s Subscription Order exceeds $2,500, the winner will receive a refund of $2,500 and

will be responsible for the subscription costs in excess thereof. The Subscription Order may not be

changed. If the winner submitted an entry by the alternate means, the prize will be a subscription with a

value not to exceed $2,500, depending on the subscriptions available and the one selected. The name of

the winner will be posted on The Metropolitan Opera’s website and the winner will also be notified by

phone, fax, email, or fist class mail, as determined by The Metropolitan Opera. The winner agrees to The

Metropolitan Opera posting his or her name on The Metropolitan Opera’s website as the winner. The

winner is solely responsible for reporting and making all federal, state and local tax payments, including

without limitation, income taxes and sales and use taxes, in connection with the award. If the selected

winner fails to meet the eligibility or other requirements set forth herein, the prize will be forfeited and

an alternate winner selected. The Metropolitan Opera makes no warranties or guarantees, express or

implied, with regard to the prize. The prize is not transferable and there is no substitution (in cash or

otherwise). All seats are subject to availability. Each winner may, at the discretion of The Metropolitan

Opera, be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and/or Release, and failure to do so within the time

specified will result in forfeiture of the prize.

information handwritten in block letters: your name, your postal address, phone number, fax (optional)

and email address (optional) to Subscription Refund Drawing, Customer Care, The Metropolitan Opera,

Lincoln Center, New York, NY 10023.


All subscription orders and alternate means of entry become the property of The Metropolitan Opera.

Every person, by submitting a Subscription Order or an alternate means of entry to The Metropolitan

Opera agrees to these Rules and the decisions of The Metropolitan Opera, its officers, directors,

employees and agents and releases them from any and all claims and liability arising out of any

participation in this drawing, the selection of the winner and/or the drawing. The Metropolitan Opera

disclaims any and all liability for any computer equipment or software failure or malfunction or any

damage caused to any entrant’s computer equipment or software. The Metropolitan Opera is not responsible for any delays, nondelivery, typographical, human or other error of any nature with respect

to any Subscription Order(s), alternate means of entry, prize notice, administration of the selection

process or drawing or announcement of the winner. Any prize notice containing any error of any nature

whatsoever shall be null and void. The Metropolitan Opera reserves the right to cancel this drawing and

not select a winner, if, in its sole discretion, it determines that the drawing may not be capable of being

run as originally planned. By entering, the entrant agrees that (1) this random drawing and any and all

aspects of the relationship between The Metropolitan Opera and entrants shall be governed by the laws

of the state of New York, without giving effect to its conflicts of law principles, and (2) any litigation,

claims, disputes or controversies concerning, arising out of or in connection with this game of skill,

drawing or any prize awarded shall be brought only in a federal or state court in the county of New York,

state of New York, and entrant consents to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts and waives any

objection or defense concerning jurisdiction or venue that entrant could otherwise have in such courts.


The name of the winner will be posted on The Metropolitan Opera’s website on or

about April 8, 2014. The name of the winner will also be available by sending a selfdaddressed, stamped

envelope to The Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center, New York, NY 10023, Attention: Editorial &

Communications Department. All requests for the name of the winner must be received by The

Metropolitan Opera between March 26 and April 30, 2014. Requests received after April 30, 2014 will not be honored.
