The Metropolitan Opera and the Metropolitan Opera Guild are committed to finding and fostering the next generation of opera lovers through vital programs in schools and communities across the country and advancing the role of opera in education.

Today, our innovative education initiatives reach more than 1,600 schools in 24 states. Programs include rehearsals and performances at the Met, Live in HD movie-theater transmissions, family education, school residency programs, workshops for teachers, educational research, and collaborations with colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

As one of the world’s preeminent opera companies, the Met has been home to many of the greatest singers, conductors, directors, designers, and choreographers ever since its first performance in 1883. Our goal is to share this exciting art form with students and teachers worldwide—at the Met, at local opera companies, in movie theaters, and in schools.
