2013-14 Season Casting Update News

The following casting changes and additions have been made to the Met’s 2013-14 season. 

Broadway actor Danny Burstein will make his Met debut in the non-singing role of Frosch in the new production of Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, which opens on New Year’s Eve in a gala celebration and continues for fourteen performances through Saturday, February 22. 


Previously announced on June 3:

Riley Costello will make his Met debut in the acting role of Puck in all performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream this season (October 11, 15, 19 mat, 23, 26 eve, 31).


Previously announced on April 2:

Géraldine Chauvet will sing her first Met performance of Octavian in Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier on December 13. The role will also be shared between Alice Coote (November 22, 25, 30 matinee) and Daniela Sindram in her Met debut (December 3, 7, 10). 

Patrick Carfizzi will make his company role debut as Frank in the new production of Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, conducted by Adam Fischer and directed by Jeremy Sams. Die Fledermaus opens on December 31, with additional performances on January 4, 7, 11 matinee, 15, 18 matinee, and February 3, 5, 8, 11, 13, 15 matinee, 20, and 22. 

Austrian bass-baritone Martin Winkler will make his Met debut as Waldner in Richard Strauss’s Arabella on April 3 and sing the role in all performances of the opera next season, replacing John Del Carlo (April 3, 7, 11, 16, 19 matinee, and 24.)
