Remembering Daniela Dessì

The Metropolitan Opera mourns the untimely death of soprano Daniela Dessì, who sang 21 performances with the company over the last two decades. She made her Met debut in 1995 as Nedda in Pagliacci, and returned in 1998 to sing Mimì in Act III of La Bohème opposite Luciano Pavarotti in a Met gala. In later seasons, she added Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly and the title character in Puccini’s Tosca (pictured) to her company repertory. We extend our deepest sympathies to her husband, Fabio Armiliato, and to her family, friends, and many admirers.
