Joined the MET Orchestra: 1982
Nashville born James Kreger joined the Met in 1982. Juilliard trained, he taught there three decades and toured with Music From Marlboro.
With principal teachers Leonard Rose and Harvey Shapiro, James was also greatly influenced by his work with Pablo Casals and Gregor Piatigorsky. A major prizewinner at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, his New York Carnegie début was heralded by The New York Times as "a memorable event." London Wigmore Hall followed suit.
