The Metropolitan Opera Introduces Curated Playlists Exclusively Available through Apple Music

 New York, NY (June 17, 2016) – The Metropolitan Opera’s newly-launched curator page on Apple Music will host a variety of playlists designed to invite listeners to explore a wide range of operatic music. Music fans can visit the curator page (www.applemusic.com/metopera) for themed playlists featuring both excerpts from past live Met broadcasts and commercial recordings by Met stars.

Five playlists are currently featured on the Met’s curator page, beginning with the “New Season Preview,” which introduces listeners to highlights of the upcoming 2016-17 Metropolitan Opera season. Featured music includes selections from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Rossini’s Guillaume Tell, and Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier.

Other initial playlists include “Group Dynamics” featuring the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus in major choral and orchestral showcases from operas; “Extraordinary Arias,” featuring famous arias performed by Met stars including Anna Netrebko, Sondra Radvanovsky, and Plácido Domingo; “Mozart Masterpieces,” a compilation of selections from two of the composer’s most musically and dramatically rich operas, Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro; and “Bel Canto Fireworks,” featuring performances of virtuosic vocal works by Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti. Other Met stars featured in the playlists include Renée Fleming, Diana Damrau, Sonya Yoncheva, Javier Camarena, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Vittorio Grigolo, Marcelo Álvarez, Simon Keenlyside, and Bryan Hymel.
