Support the National Council

The Metropolitan Opera National Council was founded in 1952 by Mrs. August Belmont to increase national interest in and support for the Metropolitan Opera.

The contributions of the National Council membership provide direct support for the Met and the National Council Auditions program.

Joining the National Council is a way to become more involved with the Met and affords benefits such as:

  1. An invitation to the annual National Council Spring Weekend in New York City where you can meet fellow National Council members from across the country and hear the opera stars of the future at the Grand Finals Concert
  2. A 10% discount at the Metropolitan Opera Shop
  3. A subscription to OPERA NEWS magazine
  4. Priority ticketing for Met performances

For more information about National Council membership and benefits, please see our National Council Membership Brochure.

The National Council Districts and Regions are administered by volunteers and National Council members across the country. Each District and Region raises money locally for holding their auditions and for award money for their singers.
